Dr. Jauquita Hargus, professor emeritus, generously provided funding for the awards. Dr. Deborah Kincaid organized the event and recognized area middle school and high school teachers for their help in recruiting participants for the contest.

“This competition would not be possible if it weren’t for Dr. Hargis’ support of continuing mathematics education for our youth and her generosity in donating the awards,” said Dr. David Reavis, interim dean of the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at A&M-Texarkana. “By participating, students became familiar with our students and faculty and with what our university and colleges have to offer.  It was an outstanding event that we plan to continue in the future.”
