Texarkana College Welcomes Washington as Dean of Workforce and Community & Business Education
Thursday, June 22, 2017- Texarkana, Texas– Texarkana College is pleased to announce Brandon Washington as Dean of Workforce and Community & Business Education. Washington brings more than ten years of educational leadership and strong community ties to the position.
“This community is important to me and the idea of working with local students, educators and businesses is something I am passionate about and I am ready to get started,” said Washington “I look forward to working with community stakeholders and partners to promote and grow TC’s workforce programs.”
Washington said that he’s honored to join TC’s team of dynamic educators and leaders who provide quality workforce training which supports current employers and drives economic growth.
“TC wants the best for the greater Texarkana area and I am honored to have an opportunity to serve in this position,” said Washington.
Serving the community comes as second nature to Washington. Currently, he serves as a member of the executive board of the Boy Scouts of America- Caddo Area Council, and has previously served on the boards of Hands on Texarkana and First Tee of Texarkana. Washington is also a 2009 graduate of Leadership Texarkana and held a previous board position. He holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Arkansas and a master’s degree in educational administration from Lamar University.
Dr. Donna McDaniel, TC’s Vice President of Instruction, said that Washington is invested in the community and has a clear vision for how TC fits into our growing region.
“I have watched Brandon grow into a solid leader throughout the years,” said McDaniel. “He demonstrates a ‘can-do’ attitude and embodies strong ethics that he learned from his parents. Students respect him for his leadership ability and his peers recognize his aptitude for incorporating innovative ways to solve problems and get results. We are very pleased to welcome him to our TC family.”
Texarkana College’s Workforce and Community & Business Education Division specializes in offering training programs for students interested in obtaining technical skills to quickly enter the workforce. Workforce programs include courses in automotive technology, auto body repair, certified nursing assistant, construction technology, cosmetology, culinary arts, diesel technology, electrical technology, electronics/instrumentation technology, EMT, fire academy, HVAC, industrial maintenance, office careers, pharmacy tech, professional driving academy, and welding. Courses offered through the Community & Business Education division include personal enrichment courses such as swimming lessons, art classes, computer training courses, health and wellness programs, and Kids College.
