Museum to Host End of Summer Creative Writing Workshop
Texarkana, AR – On September 2, 2017 Texarkana Museums System and the MoRH (Museum of Regional History) will host an end-of-summer creative writing workshop for all ages and skill levels. Presenter Kara Wicks will guide participants through creating plot, settings, characters, and more in this fun writing workshop designed to inspire creativity. The workshop begins at 2 p.m. at the Museum of Regional History, 219 N. State Line Avenue in Historic Downtown Texarkana. Admission is $5 for TMS Members and $10 for non-members. Fee includes admission to the Museum of Regional History. Reservations required.
Workshop presenter Kara Wicks teaches English at Texas High School. She is a married mother of two young boys who developed a love for creative writing during her high school years at Veritas Academy.
“Writing is a diverse mode of creativity,” she says. “We can write to process our thoughts, from the mundane to memorable, and the greatest part is that we often discover new ideas in the process. I believe Flannery O’Connor said ‘I write because I don’t know what I think until I read what I say.’”
There is no age limit, but children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Writing materials will be provided. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available through the Museum of Regional History Facebook page or online through Eventbrite. The admission fee includes a self-guided tour of the Museum of Regional History exhibit galleries. MoRH displays explore the history of our region, from the time of the Caddo through the Civil Rights Movement and can serve as great inspiration for the budding authors.
Event begins at 2 p.m. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 903-793-4831. Seating is limited, so buy your tickets today!
