Author Michael Hawron to lead Novelist Workshop at the P. J. Ahern Home
Texarkana, AR – The Texarkana Museums System is pleased to host a creative writing workshop presented by author Mike Hawron on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the P. J. Ahern Home museum. The workshop begins at 10 a.m. Admission is $8 per person. Refreshments and writing materials provided. Just bring your novel ideas and creative spirit!
The workshop will be led by author, Michael Howron author of Entertaining Detours and The Little Town with the Big Heart, set in the author’s current home, New Boston, Texas. Over the course of thirty years, Mr. Hawron has had many fun adventures, in thirty countries on five continents. He has been attacked by baboons, survived natural disasters, and met a variety of colorful characters all over the globe.
“Mr. Hawron written everything from memoirs to scifi and historical fiction,” says Jamie Simmons, TMS Curator. “His experience in such a wide variety of genres is a valuable resource for new writers.”
The workshop is for teens and adults who want to learn how to turn their great ideas into a completed novel. Participants will learn how to deconstruct a novel; create great characters; develop a plot; and write and edit up to 20 pages. Writing materials will be provided.
“Good Writing is a powerful tool for effective communications in all spheres of life,” says Mr. Hawron. “To be successful, a writer must constantly employ and exercise the skills of creativity and critical thinking—skills which enhance the quality of life for all of society. This is what inspires me about young and new writers who are eager to learn their craft.”
Mr. Hawron has a Master of Science degree in Higher Education and Adult Learning at Texas A & M. University. He is the father of twelve children and grandfather to fifteen. His new spy thriller, Just Good Clean Fun, is his first published work of historical fiction.
Seating is limited, so registration is required for this workshop. Tickets are $8 per person and are on sale now through the Ahern Home Facebook page. The workshop will be held at the P. J. Ahern Home at 403 Laurel Street, Texarkana, Arkansas, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
