The Launch Party signals the beginning of Arts & The Park 2018 on Friday, April 27 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Mid-America Science Museum. The event is a community celebration of the start of the ten-day art festival, running from April 27th to May 6th.

The Launch Party will feature one of our amazing featured artist, Hot Springs’ own Gary Simmons.  Attendees will and an opportunity to see an exhibit of his work in the Mid-America Science Museum Pop-up Gallery.   Combining festivities, fun, science and art Michelle Crandell and Bai Mros turn soap bubble play into art. Their act, “Bubble Magic” combines improvisational dance, a little science and some very big soap bubbles to create a whimsical live performance. Hot Springs Children’s Dance Theater will also be featured.

The evening will also feature the culinary arts, so guests can expect delicious hors d’oeuvres and refreshing beverages!

The Hot Springs Area Cultural Alliance will present the 2018 Arts Ambassador Award to Davis Tillman, a local champion of the arts, as part of the evening’s celebration. This year’s Arts Ambassador Award is a beautiful piece of art specially designed for the Arts Ambassador by Charles and Michael Riley of Riley Art Glass.

“From the time Davis Tillman moved to Hot Springs, he has been active in the arts. Drawing on his background with Memphis in May, Davis has been responsible for bringing internationally acclaimed artists and performers to Hot Springs. He has served as President of the Arts Cooperative Team and on the Hot Springs Arts Advisory Board, along with producing the hugely successful Baron’s Ball to benefit Levi Hospital. He truly is an ambassador for the arts.” – Linda Palmer
