Red River Credit Union is working to beat the heat before it starts this summer and collecting bottled water for the Randy Sam’s Homeless Shelter. Last summer Randy Sam’s Shelter began asking any organization to donate as much water as they could to help their residents. Red River donated thousands of bottles of water to help fulfill their need. In the hopes of offsetting the emergent need for the upcoming summer months, Red River Credit Union decided to start collecting the water before their critical need arises.
With the expanding locations into Louisiana and Mississippi, Red River locations are donating bottled water to shelters in all of their service areas. If homeless shelters are not in the immediate area of their branch locations, they will donate the water to a local Fire Department or other organization. Red River Credit Union now has 30 branch locations and over 300 employees. For 1 case of water brought by an employee that allows them to wear jeans one Friday. “It’s a great way to reward the employees for helping out such a great cause,” explained Brad Bailey, President RRCU. “The Credit Union principle of People Helping People is what we are founded on and we want to continue that tradition into our next 75 years.”, Bailey continued.
2018 is Red River Credit Unions 75 year in operations in the Texarkana area. Red River Credit Union began in 1943 with the vision of a small group of friends. These friends, all employees of Red River Army Depot, saw that pooling their funds to make occasional loans to one another gave them a leg up and provided a financial security not offered elsewhere. They became members and owners in their new financial institution—Red River Employees Federal Credit Union. Red River Credit Union employs over 330 residents across our service area to manage over $900 million in assets. Our membership is over 106,000 strong. As a premier financial institution, Red River Credit Union can offer its membership loans, deposit accounts, and financial services to meet their every need. We literally exist to meet the unique needs of each of our members.
