A&M-Texarkana Hosts Summer Writing Institute
TEXARKANA, Texas – The East Texas Writing Project will host its 2018 Summer Institute (SI) at Texas A&M University-Texarkana from June 11-29. The SI program is open to undergraduates within 12 hours of graduation and all graduate students, as well as all area teachers.
The Summer Institute offers participants 6 SCH of graduate program credit in English or Education (ENG 570/571 and ED 570/571) and focuses on developing each participant’s creative and expository writing skills, teaches best practices and strategies for the teaching of writing across any content area and grade level, and includes discussions about how to provide feedback on student writing, traditional and contemporary approaches to assessing student writing, and motivating resistant student writers.
The institute meets Monday through Friday, from 9am until 3pm each day starting June 11 and concluding June 29, offering the chance to complete 6 credit hours of graduate work during the 3 week intensive course.
